Taking the Maori election, tbo Maoris seldom made mistakes, said Mr Seddoa in I Auckland. In the last Parliament there were four Government supporters ; the election was concluded, and there were still four members returned to support the Liberal party. The natives, taking a pattern from what occurred at Wanganui, sent Apirana NgaSa in place of Wi Pere, and in Ngata taey had sent a member who would do his race great credit in Par', liament. . (Hear, hear.) He was a man of great soholastio attainments, one who had nobly devoted his educational attainments, and given his life to the raoe to whioh he belonged. His people thought ho could serve them better in Parliament, and they bad sent him there. In his telegram to the speaker af:er the election he expressed himself as being deeply sorry that their mutuil friend, Wi Pere, had been defeated, and hoped that an opportunity would still be given him to serve his oountry in Parliament. This was a sentiment wbioh did him great credit, and augured well far bis success in the publio life of this colony.
