SUICIDE BY SHOOTING.
A TAILOR’S SAD END,
At midday yesterday a man named Richard Haliigan, aged 40, a tailor by trade, committed suioide at Mrs Stevenson’s boarding-house, Haiti, shooting himself through the head. Decease!, who bad been boarding at Mrs Stevenson's since Christmas night, was absent from the house on Wednesday night, but returned shortly beioro midday yosterday. He wont straight to his bedroom, and a little later was found dead with a bullet wound through his head, a Remington rifle biiog by his side. Strange to relate, although thero were a number of pereoas about the premises during the lunohoon hour, no one heard the report: pf the rifle. Tho circumstances pointod tr the fact that deceased had taken his own life, as the riflo had been placed in the unfortunate rußn’s mouth, and the Bhot had passed through the back of his skull. Deceased, who had been in the colony for upwards of 23 years, was in the employ of Mr H. Saodlant, who speaks iu terms of the highest praise as regards to his capabilities. It is stated that some years ago he sustained a fall from a horse at Masler'oo, abd the injuries suettinod affected his menial powore. Last yoar ho pa’d a visit to Eng'ij,od, and whilst there his brother died. D-ceased was in town yesterday morning, and cereal persons to whom be spok-’, elite that he appeared to be in his usual state of health.
