Wellington, last night. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received (ho following cab'ogram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand “ London prices are firmer for muttOD, and there is a fair demand for be'tsr grades. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton le 8 p 3 per lb; for other New Zealand brands per lb ; River Plate 3Jd ; Australian 3d. There is a dull sale for all lamb, and many stale carcases are being placed on the market. The average price of New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is 4 l-Bd, and for brands other than Canterbury 4d per lb. The beef market is dull. Supplies of American chilled are largo, and stocks of Now Zealand beef on hand are light. The aver ago price to-day for hindquarters of New Zealand boot is per lb, and fer fores 3d per lb. The butter market is very firm, and there are small supplies on hand. The prico of ohoioest New Zealand butter to-day is 117 s per cwt; Danish 131 s. The cheese market is very firm at 61s. The hemp market is very firm. Tho price of New Zealand hemp, good, fair Wellington grado, on spot, to-day, per ton, is £3l 10s; January to Maroh shipment £3l. The price of Manila hemp, fair current grade, on spot, to-day, is £4l. There has been no alteration in the oockafoot seed market Binco last week. The wool market remains steady, and prices aro woll maintained. The current Bradford quotations for tops are : 36 low crossbreds Is 2JI, 40’s low crossbreds Is Bid, 44’s medium crossbreds Is 4Jd, 50’s halfbi cds Is 743, 56's quartorbreds Is 9£d, 6Q's morioo 2i l^d.
