SOME RECORDS.
(Per Press Association.) Now Plymouth, last night. For tho second day of the New Zealand Axemen’s Assooiat’on’s meeting the weather was dull, but the attendance was good and tho contests exciting, with more than one record. Exceptional interest was taken in tbo challenge contest, double-handed sawing, 22 inch logs, between Casey and Pretty, aud Carson and Mclntosh. The first go resulted in a doad heat, aod the next attempt Carson and Mclntosh won by a fraction ° f a second, the time being 17 3-j secs. Thar opponents had a bad cut, nearly running out of timber. Time, 1.35 1-5 _ a New Zealand rocord. Huttoa, in a per fcrmancß on the previous day on similar timber, put up a reoord of 1.20 1-5. bui owing to its not being checked according to the regulations the record was not allowed. The best previous reoord was Berg’?, 1 43.
