The Education Department wrote notifying the committee that the summer vaoas tion would commenco on Thursday, the 21st lust,, and close on February 2nd. The Inspector's report came up for discussion, but as several members of the committee had not yet perused the report it was decided to adjourn the discussion unti' the next meeting of the committee. The headmaster, Mr W. J. Rowley, reooited as follows The attendance during the past five weeks has averaged 802, or 86’6 per cent of the roll number. Considering the fine weather we have bal this is on ! y fair* Daring the pas. work the junior division of the secondary department has had its annual examination and the best of the upper division have Bat for matrioulation. Four boys_ and girls sat for National Queers and Board scholarships. During tbo month Mr Mann was absent for tbroo days, as bo was sitting for his examination in law. I am reporting this now as 1 unintentionally negUc'oi to obtain your permission io.ths case ot teacheis wishing to sit for examination. Such a request is always unhesitatingly granted, and has in fact become a formality, but I had no wish to slight your oommittee by its omission. The | school concert is to be held in His Majesty’s Theatre on tl e Monday and Tuesday next. The operetta, ‘The Japaneie Girl,’ by tbo school boys and girls, past and present, forms the main portion of thn entertainment, and its porfoimanco will prove a cred t alike to Mr Mssioy and the performers. The school closes f.r the tnid-summor vacation on Wednesday next. I recommend that the tnelals and cortifiaates for attendance 1 and otaor prizes be distributed on Wednesday morning as in pistyca% and I 'trust your chairman will be ablo to preside at tha distribution and that tho members of tho oommittoo will bo pio SS It was deoided that members should be presont at the distribution of prizes cn Wednesday.
