At the tallow sales 884 casks wore offered, and 325 'sold. Mutton fine is at 335, medium 27s ; beef fine 29s 6d, medium 275.
(Per- Press Association.) Napier, last night,_ Tho Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company have received the following cable from London to-day : Frozen meat market very wealc; prices unchanged.
Christchurch, last night. The second series of wool Eales started to-day, and established two records, c-ne for the quantity offered, which was 23,000 bales, aod at the other for attendance of buyers. These included a large contingent of foreign firms. Nevertheless prices showed an easier tendency. Fine halfbred and good three-quarter bred maintained last sales rates. Merinos aod crossbreds, in sympathy with the London market, were one halfpenny weaker. There were heavy withdrawals owing to reserves not being reached. Prices ranged : Merino B£d to lid, halfbred 9d to 13-ld, three-quarler bred 84d to 12d, crossbred Bfi to llfd, longwool S£l to 9Jd, Down lOd to 12Jd , pieces, meiino 9|d, balfored 9£d to lid, crcssbic-d 7|d to 9JJ, locks 4d to 6|d.
SALE AT, MATAWHERO. t YARDS :
Tho Matawhero stock sales were held yesterday. The following prices were realised by Messrs Williams and Kettle and the New Zea’and Loan aod Morcautilo Company:
Sheep : Over 2500 came forward, mostly two-tooths. Thiitcen hoggets in poor oondition 7s, 29 fat wethers shorn 12s 9J, 273 two-tooths from Coaßt (mixed sexes) shorn 11s, 17 woolly hoggets 8s 6d, 51 Bhorn fat ewes 11s, 53 fat four-tooth wethers shorn 143, 32 lambs 9s, 133 two tooth wethers in wcol 15s Id, 75 shorn ewes with 88 lambs 16s, pen fat .lambs 12s, 11 fat shorn 6wcs 12s 9J, 6 lambs 10s fid.
Cattle : 24 young heifers choice lot £5 17s 6d, 19 cows close to calving £3 18s 6d, 46 cows with calves passed in at £5, 15 cows with 10 oalver £5 Is, 9 beef cows £5 7s, 7 heifers £4, 7 prime beef cows £5 17s 61, 9 prime beef cows £5 2} 61, 8 three-year-cld steers £5, 21 big frarnod steei'3 £5 5?, 47 yea'liog beifers 365. Pigs: A small yarding came forwa v d, and with the usual brisk market all found purchasers at the following prices—6 weaners 8s 6d, 1 bow and litter of 8 £3 153, 7 porkers 25', 1 sow £2 7s, 2 pigs £2 17s, 4 porkers 22 1 61, 4 weaners 8s 6d, 3 smaller ones ss.
Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton and Co. had a good yarding Messrs Dalgety and Co. quote the following prices:— Cattle: There was a yarding of about 600; 170 two to three-year-old sleers mode £4, 2Eksteers £3 17s 63,11 heifers £2, 10 heifers £2 10s, 10 heifers £3 18s; a good line of shorthorn cows made £5, yearling steers 37s to 425.
Pigs: Suckers realised 8s 6d. Our next sale will be hold next Thurs day, the 21st inst.
