THE RECENT CONTEST

(To the Editor Gisborne Times.)

Sir,—Mr B. Boyd, in your last issue, suggests that some recognition should bo made for what I have done against nolicense being carried in this district. While appreciating his kind intentions, I wou'd aek him, and any who may think with him. not to procred any further with tho suggestion. I look for no reward, nor yet thanks, for doing what I regarded as a duty, and I am deeply thankful that na-lioense was not carried, and in that fact nloue I havo suffic’ont reward for what I may havo done in tho matter. At tho same time I regret lo think it was possible for our progressive district to bo run so close in this mailer, and I trust that this fact alone will cause many who are indifferent to bestir themsolves and realise there isadmgar; and if this is appreciated I will ho sufficiently, rewarded. —I am, etc , W. DOUGLAS LYSNAR,
