FIRE ON WIMMERA.
EXTINGUISHED WITHOUT ANY MATERIAL DAMAGE, PASSENGERS^UNAWARE OF OUTBREAK. By; telegraph, Press Ass’n, Copyright Received 5.20 p.m , Dec. 13. Sydney, December 13. A fi.ro wait discovered in the after bold of tho steamer Wimmora late on Saturday night, after all tho passengers had retired. Tho chief engineer, first and seoond offioers, and boatswain located the firo among a number of bales of flax. The officers mentioned took turns to go below with the hoee.
After a couple of hours they extinguished the firo without the passengers being aware of the outbreak.
Tho vessel sustained no damage. Several bales of flax wore burnt. Received 1.1 a.m., Dec. 14,
Tho firo is attributed te spontaneous combustion of flax. A quantity of ca:go in the vicinity was damaged by water.
