LICENSING POLL

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Outstanding seamen’s and absentees votes cannot affect the result of the Newtown local option poll. Continuance is carried. The New Zealand Alliance asserts that tho figures received in connection ■with tho no-licenso poll so far show that the licenso vote of 1905 exceeds the 1902 vote by 15,932, whilo the no-liconse vote of 1905 exceeds the no-liconse vote of 1902 by 25,914. This shows that the no-license balance was 9982 in excess of the balance for licenso. If to this balance of 9982 there be added a balanco of 3078 to the credit of the no-liconse vote ia 1902, the total balauco in favor of nolicenso is 13,0G0. Final returns have yet to come from Bruce, Mount Ida, Invercargill, Eiccarton, and Wakatipu, hut they will probably not materially alter tho proportion.
