Per Press Association. Ohristohurch, last night. The Canterbury Philosophical Institute have decided to establish a Hutton Memorial Research Fund, in honor of the memory of the iale Captain Hutton. The fund is to be devoted to tho encouragement of original research in natural science in New Zealand. Ashburton, last night. ■ Tho Government have instructed the Land Porohaso Board to enter into negotiations for the purchase of Lagmhor estate; comprising about 20,000 acres, ana coming up to wilhio two miles of the town.
