It has given independence to tho indus* trious and worthy, and ensures suooour to the distressed. It is no delusion or sham, but a mighty reality that not all the slander or vituperation of partisans can assail or impair. To tbo masses it siys bo True, bo United, for in Unity is STRENGTH.

Well, then, let us ask ourselves whettor it is the present Administration or the ono it superseded that is chiefly responsible for our advancement ? You have already an experienced and most able Advocate, whoso services have proved most beneficial to the District, who enjoys a reputation for Breadth of View, for Grasp of Detail, aud for Statesmanlike Qualities. Who, although by an opponent styled as a modern Cicero, yet refrains from using his gilts to proclaim his own achievements or belittle those in opposition to him, but prefers to allow facts to speak for themselves, and whose motto is DEEDS, NOT WOKDS.
