MR H. H. WALL’S ADDRESS.
“'V, I—i—- | Mr H. H. Wall made his final appoal to the electors at the Holy Trinity schoolroom lest evening, Mr T. Alston Coloman presiding. Tho candidate’s address wa3 oa similar lines to his previous speeches, and severe criticism of tho Government . Administration. Ho doalt with tho other candidates in the field, and created much amusement by his references to the mysterious petition, As the other candidates bad received presentations from the hands of their supporters ho was pleased to receive this valuable presentation,producing nod unrolling the petition amidst laughter. They all knew the speaker’s policy. He made no secret of it. His polioy was roads and bridges. The Hon. J. Carroll bad published an address, but it was all platitudes and references to the golden past. There had been no golden past in Poverty Bay, not even a silver past. They did not want promises, but statements of facts. If thoy were satisfied with hb coiois, he asked them to take them to the poll with them. (Applause.) Mr Wall stated that he had always favored mo-licens?, and, if returned, would do all he could to further its cause. In speaking of Mr Clayton’s supporters, asking him (o retire, Mr Wall stated that they told him that Mr Clayton had more support. He questioned whether there was any man in Gisborne who oould say how the poll would go. He bad intended to give them a lengthy address, bn\ as there were so few present, he would condense his ra marks, and give them an opportunity cf hearing the other candidates. The speaker was accorded a vote of thanks, on the motion of Mr Coloman.
