MR-DARTON’S CAMPAIGN. Mr G. E, Darton, the Liberal and Labor candidate, had a busy day yesterday, holding three successful meetings. At coon he addressd a large nurnbor of the Taruhern freezing works employees, and created a most favorable impression. His meet ing for ladies held in tho Theatre Royal at three o’clock was largely a’tcoded, Mr R. Johnston presiding. Mr Dutton's remarks to tho ladies were in the main on the lines of his previous addresses, aud he was accorded a most pitient hearing, being given a hearty vote of thaoks at tbe close A large crowd gathered in front of tbe
I Trocadero Rooms last evening at nine o’clock (o hear Mr Darton deliver his I final appeal to the electors, and the I speaker was accorded a most enthusiastic reception although ha was somewhat at a I disadvantage in speaking on account of a sera tb.ioat. Ho made a strong and vigorous attack on the Hon. James Oarfoll, poinling out that the latter had signally failed to do adequate justice to ' the requirements of tho district in regard to district votes, whilst his native lands policy had been a miserable failure. Referring to the return given by Mr Carroll, ho stated that it entirely omitted the area of land which had passed the Court and was st II held by natives, totaling 590,003 acres, which brought tho total native lands to over 900,000 on Mr Carroll’s own showing. A hearty vole of thanks was aeoorded to tho oandidate, and the meeting broke up with three cheers,
