Sir.—l have read Mr Rees’ letters on the above subjoot, also Mr Cbatterton'e reply thereto, and although he may bo welt up in the teachings of the Bible, I cannot seo any proof of hia assertions in that Book. He certainly has made statements, but gives no scriptural proof of the same, whilst . Me Rees giveß undeniable Bible proofs of a'l his statements. Aga’n Mr'Rees is a private gentleman, whilst Mr Ohatterton is a professing Christian clergy, man and prohibitionist, for he surely must be nwaro that prohibition is causing strife, malioe, hatred, and ill-wili amongst peaceful and contented Christian neighbors together with encouraging lying, perjury, and immorality amoDget sly-grog sailors io no-lioense districts. Now, sir, will Mr Chatterton turn round and state that suoh teaehings aro Biblical ? If so, I must confess I would not wish to be a Christian, for I think it must bo acknowledged that suob teachings are at variance with true Christianity and moial teachings. Surely man’s common-sense can teach him suob.—l am, etc., civm
