Christohurob, last night.

At about 1.30 o’clock this morning an eleven-roomed house in Carlyle street, -Sydenham, occupied by Mr G. E. Christensen, and owned by Mrs Pope, was i destroyed by fire.’ The house was used as a hoarding-house,-and there were three or four boarders in it at the time. Nothing was saved, and several of the ocoupants had to escape by the windows. The furs nitnre was insured in the Manchester office for £l5O, and Mr Christensen estimated his loss at £7O over the insurance. The building was insured in the Menobester offioe for £3OO.

A crowd estimated at about 5000 filled the Colosseum ; Ska ing Bink to-night, when Mr T. E, Taylor replied to the speaoh delivergl by the Prem’or the previous evening. Tbe proceedings were very livelyj and the earliest part of the meeting was noisy, bat became more orderly as the speech proceeded.
