IN pursuance ol “ The > Electoral Act, 1905,” I, John Brooking, Beturning Officer for the Eastern Maori Electoral District, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of ai Writ, bearing date the 22nd day of November, 1905, under the hand of the Clerk of the Writs, an Election will be held for the return of a legally qualified person to serve as a Member of the House of Representatives for the above-mentioned Electoral District, and that the Nomination of Candidates will take plaoe at the Courthouse, Gisborne, at noon, on FRIDAY, the Ist day of December, 1905; and that, the Foiling, if necessary, will take place on WEDNESDAY, the 20th day of December, 1905, at the several Polling Places within the said Electorate, i Candidates shall be proposed by one and seaonded b; another Elect ir, both of whom must be qualified to vote at the. INFORMATION from Bay of Plenty .tribes and the Ngatiporous is to the effeot that they have a block vote for A. T. Ngata. Wi Pere has held meetings in the Ngatiporou District, but has made no impression on the different hapvts. The leading chiefs of the Ngatiporou are ’ sending word to the chiefs and their hapus in other parts of the Electorate, requesting them for their suoport and co-operation. Tbe request has received .the support and co-operation-of all the/tribes from Tokomaru to Uawa and down to -Gisborne.
