MR WALL'S STATEMENTS.
1 A. BEPLY FBOM THE PETITIONEES (To the Editor Gisborne Times.) Sir,—ln connection with Mr Wall’s statements at Man gap ap a laat night, I should be glad, if you would publish the following facts: — Mr Wall was oh Saturday presented with a largely-signed requisition, asking him in the interests of his party to retire from the contest for the Wetiapu seat. The deputation in charge of this matter were Messrs C. Gray, T. Holden, and myself, and on the requisition among others were the following names: 0. Gray, A. F. Kennedy, A. Tuohy, F. Ferguson, A. McLean, H. F. North, B. J. Witters, T. MoGregor, D. Malone, J. Allen, J. L. | Perry, j. E. Benson, A. M. Beale, A. B. Williams, T. E. Sherwood, W. O’Byan, A. McKenzie, W. J. Mossman, T. F. Butledge and 450 others. Mr Wall’s inexcusable statement as to a large sum having been offered him, has for its only possible basis the faot that it was hinted by one of the deputation, that there was a probability of his out-of-pocket expenses to date being made good if' he retired.—l am, etc., ■ : v H, KENWAY.
