gi r ,_ Wo call this a prohibition district, bat it is so only in name. Why should we prevent drink being sold here, when the law allqwa it to come into the district like any commodity ? Take this town (Mataura) for instanc. gom e say it has dope good to several “ old tgpera.” ' I grant it has to a certain extent, but even they may be seen now and then the worse for liquor. But what I deplore most is the number of young fellows who hove gone in for drinking heavily since prohibition was oarried, Ruining libemselves fast, body and soul, ’there are in-my In this place who band together and get liquor, and then Bpend a night, yea two or three nights, in debtuoh ery In huts or out of the way places. Were the parents respectable poople, to be told this they would not believe it.
