SALE AT MATAWHERO .YARDS,

Tho Matawhero stock ssles were held yesterday. - There was a yarding of 2000 sheep and about 800 head of cattle. Buyers were not very prominent. There was a fair entry of fat sheep, whioh brought gcod oompetit’oo. The following were Messrs Williams and Kettle's and the New Zealand Loan and Meroanlilo Agenoy’s quotations:—4o fat shorn ewes .lls fid, 22 fat woolly 15a 9d, 22 blaokfaoe woolly hoggets 14s fid, 49 woolly ewes 9s 9d, 81 fat and woolly wethers 19s 9d, 93 fat and forward shorn oweß 12s, 61 ditto lls 2d, 69 prime fat. shorn owes 12s 9d to 18s Bd, 12 fat lambs 12s. Woolly ewes and lambs, of whioh there was a smalt entry, fetched 17s 10d, that being the only pen of sheep offered by Messrs Dalgety and 00. and Common, Shelton and 00.

Oaitle—About 800 head were yarded, the majority ooming from Waikato. The sale was good, and keen competition for all olaßses waa experienced, and most of the yarding was oleared under the hammer. Following ptioes were obtained by Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton and Co.:—s hoifers £3 13s 6d, 2 dairy springers £7 15s and £8 12s fid, 1 cow £3 12s fid, 1 cow £2 16s, 6 youDg steers 395, 2 yoarliDgs £2 2s, 10 smell yearlings 81s, 5 heifers £3 10s, 10 18 month s'.eors £3 4s, 1 fat cow £5 6s, 4 fat Jersey s’eers £4 10s, 10 young st. eis 395, 8 heifers £4, 7 ditto. £3 ss. Messrs Williams and Kettle and tho NowZ:aland Lean and Mercantile prices were : Haven oalvos 28s, 3 young steers £2, 9 young heifers from milking strains £2 Bs, 1 beef cow £4 10a, 1 cow £3; 1 cow in full profit £4 2s fid, 1 Shorthorn bull £8 15s, 162 store steers (Waikato) £4 7s fid, 61 heifers (Waikato) £3 18s fid, 60 ditto. £3 13s 6d, 40 ditto. £3 12s 6d, 40 ditto. £2 18s. Pigs: As usual, the market was brisk, and the yarding was disposed of at satisfactory prices, as follows : —Messrs Dalgety and Co, and Common, Shelton and Co.: Ten weaners 10s, 4 porkers 14s, 8 do. 12s 6d, 3 big do. 17s, 2 good weaners 12s fid. Messrs Williams and Kettle and N Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. : Eight porkers 14s, 4 small porkers 7s fid, 1 pig 18s, 2 baeou pigs 375, 4 smaller ones 23, 4 weaners lls, 6 do. 7s, 3 pigs 13s fid, 3 porkers 18s.
