BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council wss hold last evening, , there being present his Worship the Mayor (Me J. Townley), Cra Harding, Bright, ; Wbiuray, Webb, Miller, and Rees. HOSPITAL TRUSTEES. < The Hospital Trustees wrote asking * that the Council appoint two members to the Hospital Trustees. 0 Cr Rocs proposed that the sitting mem> berß, Messrs Joyoo and Johnston, be reappointed. Or Bright moved an amendment that the Council Dominate two of their own members, and proposed Ors Whinray and Rees. Or Whinray favored the suggestion that members of the Oouuoit be appointed. He suggested that Or Miller should take his place. Both Crs Rees and Miller refnsed to act, eulogising the good work done by tho sitting members. Or Bright then moved that the matior be left over till the next meeting of the Counoil. The amendment was lost, and Cr Beeß’s motion, that the sitting members bo re'v elected, was carried. On the motion of Cr Rees, it was deoidod to instruot the Ovorseer to epread gravel on the footpath on the east side loading from'the Tatuheru bridge. WAINUI ROAD. At the instance of Cr Bright, the Over* seer was requested to submit a report on the oost of putting the footpath on the Wainui road from the Taranganui bridge in order. Cr Bright'pointed out that the condition of the footway made it neoessary to have the work done during the summer mouths.
