At the Supreme Court Harry Reynolds, alias Lloyd, alias Harry Evans, pleaded guilty to having forged and uttered a Dumber of cheques. 'Acoueed admitted a number of prior conviotions. A sentence of three years’ bard labor was imposed. Two young men na'med David Jenkins and Jack MoGregor wero charged with breaking and entering the shop of Thomas Conolly, at Cambridge, and stealing a quantity of shoes and boots, on Auguet 27 last. Prisoners pleaded guilty. They also pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking into and entering a draper’s shop Bt Karangahake, and to having housebreaking implements in their possession. McGregor admitted one prior eonviotion. His Honor said that in oases like this he must pass exotuplary sentences, MoGregor would be sentenced to two years’ hard labor upon eaoh charge, and Jenkins to 18 months’ hard labor upon eaoh oharge, the sentences to be oonourrent. Walter Stannard, a middle-aged 'man, pleaded not. guilty to stealing a cheque for £lB, the property of John Bilkie, of Pnkekohe. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, and the prisoner was sentenced, to two years’; hard labor.

Christchurch, last night. Frederick Wilson, oharged with alleged breaking and entering, was convicted and sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment. Jas. Lyndhurst and Leonard Willis pleaded guilty to escaping from legal onstody at Hanmer, and stealing a quantity of clothing and a bioyole, and were sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on eaoh charge, the sentences to be concurrent, to begin on expiry of the sentences they are already serving.

At the Supreme Court this aftarnooD, John Burns, a middle aged man, oonvicted of having committed an indecent aot at St. Albans, on October lltb, was sentenced to six mouths' imprisonment. The trial of William John Kinley, on a charge of | having at Kaikoura, assaulted a woman with intent to oommit rape, is dow proceeding. Wellington, last night. Robert Priest was found guilty of burglary, and sentenced to 18 months’ hard labor; John Hamilton, for theft, to six months’ hard labor ; William Hughes, for breaking and entering, 12 mouths’ hard labor. Duuediu, last night. George Henry Tyler was acquitted of a charge of assaulting a ohild of tender years.
