THE BIBLE AND LAW.
(To the Editor Gisborne Times.) Sir,—lt is not my desire nor intention to entor into any controversy regarding this question, but with your permission will add'a few remarks to the letter of Mr W. L. Rees. It will be seen that for a Christian to go back to prohibition is to go back to law, to go baok to law is to fa 1 from graoe. The gospel is " the gospel of the grace of God.” Law of God oame in to teßt mßn as to hU state. He was found wanting. Grace then comes in to give him a new statp, and a novr position, in l the second man—the last Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ. Law ie for the lawless, grace is for tho Christiana who walk oc should walk according to tho power of the spirit of God, which is givea oa the basis of the death aod roßurrectian of tho Lord Jesus Christ to the believer in Him. Now the Christian is delivered from the ooutßO of this present evil world, and will when the Lord oomes be bodily delivered out of it; it will tben go oa to meet the judgment, falling on those who despiso the grace. Everything points to tho oad of this dispensation of graoo as being near at band. Now is the Day of Salvation, then of Judgment. I am, Sir, one who by tho graoe of God is saved from the wrath to come. " VOX.”
