WaDganui, yesterday. Thero ia perfeot weather for People’s Day at the show, and a huge attendance. It is the most successful show ever held in Wanganui. Great interest was taken in the milk test competition, and tbe results obtained were remarkably good, beating j the previous record for the show. The results were:—Tawlsr Bros.’Daisy, 291 b milk, 6.5 test, 1.595 butter fat, 1; Mrs Campbell’s Betty, 231 b milk, 5 test, 1.50 butter fat, 2; J. Peat’s Brindle, 201 b milk, 4.4 test, .880 butter fat, 8. To-day’s proceedings mainly consisted of riding and driving competitions, in which great interest was centred. Later: The ohief interest was taken in the competitions. Ladies’ leaping was won by Duohess, and the hunters’ jumping was won by Utah. Oamaru, yesterday.

The forty-second annual show of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association opened to-day in fine weather, after three days’ steady rain. There was a large attendance. There are 960 entries, the largest since 1879. The principal increases are in cattle and sheep, especially the latter. There is a slight falling off in the horse classes, prinoially in hacks, hunters, and light harness horses. In sheep tbe largest increases are in Border and English Leicesters. Implements and machinery also show big increases. Today judging of light horses, cattle, sheep, piga, dogs, and dairy produce, also of horse competitions, Balaclava melee, driving, jumping, etc., takes place. The Hon. T. Y. Duncan is present. Later:- The ring was a trifle sloppy. The weather promises fine for to-morrow. The following are the winners for the championships:—Merino, strong ram and ewe, Wm. Gardiner; Border Leicester, ram and ewe, Little Bros ; English Leicester, ram and ewe, Donald Grant; Lincolns, ram and ewe, Moeraki Estate; Stropshiro Downs, ram and ewe, B, Seth Smith; Ayrshire bull, W. Oowan; Ayrshire oow, A. Gillies.
