WHYTE V.PARRY.

'To the Editor Gisborne Times*

gj r ,_We have had some astonishing statements lately from Mr David Whyte, junr., and his followers in the No-License fad, but it is Dot my intention to enlarge on them hero. Mr Whyte’s letter in Monday’s issue of your valuable paper, however, just about caps all for out-and-out audaoity. After liberally condemning a respeotod body of tradespeople for some months, his appetite has apparently been satisfied for the time being in that direc-

tion, and he has turned his attention to a worthily respected minister of the Gospel, no less, and coolly asks your readers to attest his impeachment of the veracity and integrity of the Rev. Mr Parry. Mr Parry needs no champion from the statements of Mr Whyte, but we should not allow it to be Baid that, by our silence, we have acquiesced iu them, Tho suggestion that Mr Parry has not told the truth should be thrown back in his faoe with eoorn. —I am, etc., J. S.

iTo the Editor Gisborne Times. Sir, —Most of us have our own opinions as to who to believe in the matter of tho theatre, and I do not intend ,to enter into that phase of tho question. What I would like to know is, would it have butt the no-license people very muoh to have let Mr Parry have tho theatre at au earlier hour than they required it on the Sunday evening? Say, for argument's sake, Mr Whyte is right, is it Christian to make such a refusal, especially by people who have had bo muoh general assistance la the building of ohurohes ?- I am, etc., FAIR DEALING.
