(Per Press Association.)’ Ohristohurob, last night. The Eseoutive Commissioners’ weekly report in connection with the exhibition states that tenders for the art gallery will close shortly. The work must be completed in five months. The railway engineer has notified that he will commence the railway siding from Riooarton station next week. The matter of bridges and septio tanks have been relegated to a sub-committee to deal with.

Mr J. Barlow, arobiteot, has been inBtruoted to prepare plans and specifications of the machinery ball, for the pnrpoßes o calling for tenders. A meeting of the executive will be held at an early date to consider important matters in connection with the ceremony of laying thß foundation atone on Anniversary Day, December 18th. Invitations to take part in the procession have been sent to Bands of Hope, juvenile Templars, trade societies, and friendly societies. The Christchnroh Music Union have eonsented to undertake the production of Sir Arthur Sullivan's “Tb Doum ” at the opening oeremony on Ist November, 1906.

Tue concert committee submitted to tho general entertainment committee a lengthy programme of a week’s entertainment in the nature of competitions, which will take the form of vooal solos for several classes, duets, quartettes, a grand choir contest, quartettes from ohurch oboira, Liedertafel competition, pianoforte solos, violin soloe Shakesperian recitations, ordinary reoita tions, humorous reoitations, songs, eto., and classes are arranging for both amateurs, and professionals. The entertainment committee approved of the programme ae submitted, and tbe same will be plaoed before the executive and finance committees for final adoption.

Tho home industries committee are making satisfactory progress in the completion of the schedule. A ladies’ subcommittee has been set up to arrange for classes specially devoted to ladies and children.

The Accountants’ Association having advooated that exhibits of a demonstration of the metric system should be made, the committee decided to include same in its department. At a meeting of the fioaooe committee it was decided to oall for tendere at an early date for the supply of medals. Consideration was given to the report of the agricultural and pastoral committee, advocating a four days’ show in 1900, and payment to the A. and P. Society of £IOOO. The committee gave particulars of its proposed extra expenditure. It was decided that the fiaance committee could oot see its way to contribute towards the expanses of a four days’ show, but wou’d favorably consider a proposal to Bupp!e--ment a prize fund for obampionsbip stock to an amount not exoeediog £l5O, and to issue exhibition diplomas. Consideration was given to the mat er of a travelling representative. At a meetiog of tbe transport committee the matter of inoreased traffic from Australia to New Zealand during the exhibition was fully disoussed, and representatives present arranged to make all possible arrangements to cope with the estimated increase.

Applications for all classes of amusements and side-shows continue to be received. Excellent offers have been received for sideshows from over-sea souroes, and there is no question that the amusement portion of tbe exhibition will be a decided feature.

Mr R. Allan (Ohristohuroh), with Mr G. 8. Munro, has been appointed executive commissioner of the Ohristohuroh exhibition. Messrs T. E. Donne (Wellington), H. Brett (Auckland), and J, Mills (Dunedin) have ako been appointed commissioners.
