In connection with the grounding of the Kaituna off Farewell Spit,, the directors of the’Union Company held an'inquiry, and decided to relieve Oaptain Drewette of his command for six mouths, and place him in the position of ohief officer. It was considered that Captain Drewette had failed to observe the regulations in not taking soundings when in doubt as to the position. In view of his fine record the 1 .a ru.'i.jiuut;;,
Captain Carson has gone North to relieve Captain Drewette, and Oaptain Backetorm succeeds Captain Carson on the Rosamond.
