THE CHARGE AGAINST CEIOK.

Received 9.49 p.m., Nov. 2. Sydney, November 2, The charge against W. P. Oriok was continued to-day. Crick ocoupied tbe greater part of the day in an exhaustive cross examination of Peter Close in reference to land transactions, over which an alleged division of the commission took place, and Crick’s borrowing transactions from Close’s firm. Criok indicated that his object was to show that his treatment of land exchanges was departmentally correot,*aud in the interests of the . public. Close admitted that it was so. Mr Piioher, for tbe Crown, pointed out that the gravamen of the charge was not whether he administered the department properly or improperly, but that he as a Minister reoeived a gratuity. i ,
