He and three other men, Jones, Samuel McMillan, and Alfred Lason, had gone out fishing in a small boat early, in the morning to a little island-in the bay, and on tHe return journey their boat ewamped, there being a very heavy swell on, - and capsized. McMillan and Lason clung to the boat, and Jones and McDonald, who were brothers-in-law, started to swim towards a yacht moored close by. Jones reached the yacht, but McDonald, becoming exhausted or being seized with cramp, sank and was drowned. His body has not yet been recovered. ; Ohristohurch, last night;

Members approved of this sentiment, and no action was taken. Dunedin, last night. John Blackwood (aged 64) was found dead in a house in Union street early this morning. Death' was apparently due to hemorrhage of the lungs.
