He had just finished saying, “ Thank God, no lives are lost,” when ho was killed by the explosion. Four hundred employees of the mine are idle.

Reoeived 11.80 p.m., Oot 30. Sydney, Oot. 80. Both tunnels of tho mine have been scaled. Flooding was not resorted to. The fire is still burning. The extent of the damage is unknown. Fawins succumbed to his injuries, and Young is in a serions'eondition.
