MAN POISONED.
(Per Press 'AMOciatfoo.) Christchurch, lasi night. At Baoglorai just before 8 o’olook yes-, .erday morning, an elderly man named Charles Bonham, a laborer, was found lying In Ashley street, apparently in a fit. He was taken into a house near by. A doctor who was oalled in found that ho was suffering from stryohnine poisoning. , He was subsequently oonvoyod to the police station, whore two doctors attended him. At threo o’olook he was still alive, but in a oritioal condition. The man purchased the stryohnine in a looal chemist s shop, for the purpose, be said, of poisoning rats. He is a widower, his wife having died reoontly.
