ROTORUA TRAGEDY.
; A MAN FROM GISBORNE. (Pet Press 'Association.) Botorua, j, Further particulars regarding the Rotorua tragedy show that Hislop had been employed by Campbell at the . Edinburgh House as kitchenmao, but latterly he had been in the employ of Mr Bastable, a baker. He came to Botorua from Gisborne about 12 months ago. Campbell; Who has been proprietor of the Edinburgh House for some years past, was a quiet, inoffensive- man. He haa stated that Hislop has bean irritating him lately, and he has complained to the police several times. Last night, when Hislop went to Edinburgh- House, Campbell opened the door and told him to go away. Hislop did not comply, and Campbell threatened that if he did not go he would give him the contents of a pea-ride which ie had reached for. Hislop still tormented him, and Campbell fired. The ballet penetrated Hislop’s forehead above the eye, and came out at the crown of his head.
The inquost was commenced yesterday morning, and after formal, evidence as to identification of the deceased had been taken, it was adjourned until November S, Campbell was formally charged at the Police Court at 11 o’olook yesterday morns ing with the murder of.Hislop, and remanded until November 3. r
