- (Per Press 'Association.) "\,i; Wellington, lost night. , The eighteenth annuol mooting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held last evening. The report aDd balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers wore elected President, Mr R- Heaton Rhodes (Christchurch); vice-presidents, Messrs H. A. MarriDer (Auckland) and Leslie R. Wilson (Dunedin); council, 3. F. O. Campbell, R. D. Isaaos, B. W. McVilly, A. D. Ba> feild, G. Louoblan, D. R. Menzies. and W. Coffey; hon secretary and treasurer, Mr. N. Galbraith (re«eleoted); auditor; Mr Gifc Fache (rebooted). - - -» '■■Kf A motion, by Mr Coffey (Canterbury) that the definition of ” maiden boat ” in maiden fours, maiden pairs, and double scullers be deleted, leaving it open to clubs to use lighter boats than the definition if they oould, was defeated by 16 votes to 6. Applications, were received from the Aharon Regatta Committee and Marl* borough Rowing Association for the championship regatta to be hold in their waters. The voting was’l6 for Picton and 6 for Akaroa, Canterbury being the. only association to vote for Akaros.
The following applications for reinstatement as amateurs were dealt with: — Thomas Thompson, i Timaru, refused; Peter Campbell, Timaru, refused; Georga Smith, Port Chalmers, granted; D. McDonald, Port Chalmers, granted. In the two latter cases evidence showed that the men had been misled as to their position in competitions. Canterbury’s motion that coats (in addition to oapß and badges) be given to tho winners of championship events woe deferred for notiee, as it involved an amendment of the rules.
