The mare had a low weight in the saddle. Business over tho V.R.CJ. mooting is dull. Lady Wallace is favorite for the Derby at sto 2 aga'nst. Maniapoto is top of Oup quotations at 7 to 1 against. On the strength of her gallops at Caulfield Marvel Loob hardened to 14 to 1,

After the unfavorable weather oxperienoed for the Peoplo’s Day at the Agricultural Show, the committee of the Poverty Bay Turf Club had every reason to look for better treatment on this score. Tbs day broke most unpromising, but bsfore noon the clouds had cleared away, and there was every indnoement for one to take advantage of tho day’s outiDg. The attendance was in every respeot a record one, and the keen contests witnessed during the day all added to the enjoyment. The arrangements for the gathering were all that oonld bo desired, and reflected great credit upon the seorotary, Mr J. Walker Bain, who was unremitting in his efforts to promote the comfort of all present. As usual, Captain Tucker officiated as judge, whioh oifioe he discharged most satisfactorily. Mr H. Piper wielded the stacter’s flag, and the manner in whioh he despatched his fields was a matter for muoh congratulation. The close finishes -witnessed during the day was striking testimony to tho merits of the bandtoapper, Mr J. Ohadwiok. An exoolloDt luncheon was provided by Mrs Erskiae, and was well patronised.
