Mr Arnold Forster, speaking at Croydon, said ho wa3 able to prophesy with certainty that thojirmy three years hence would be on a better footing than for years as regards armament, artillery, training, manning, oavalry, strength of reserve, stores, and equipment. Ho sometimes feared that nothing would bring tho nation to a sensible state of mind regarding the army but a tremendous defeat.
