At the tallow sales 1163 casks were offered, and 647 sold, Mutton fine is at 31s 4d, medium 28s, beef fine 28s 9d, medium 26s 6d.

Sydney, October 19. Greasy wool sold to 14d, a record for the season.

At the opening of the wool Bale there wa3 a large attendance. There was good competition as compared with last year’s opening. Good merinos were s~to 10 per oent higher, crosabreds and lambs 10 per cent higher, faulties par with last season. Greaßy Bold to 12£d, aooured 14£d.

Messrs Williams and Ket’le and'ibe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their sale of stock at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday. There was a good attendance, but a dull market. Sheep: 4000 wore yarded, the prices beiog as follows 190 ewes and lambs 17s 6d, 274 owes and lambs 16s, forward ewes 14s, 144 big wether hoggets 17s, fat lambs 12s, fat ewes 15s 9d, prims fat hoggets 19s 6d, 35 ewes and lambs 16s sd, 53 4-tooth balfbred merino wethers 15s 4d, 9 ewes and lambs 18s 7d, small pen fat hoggets 16s 9d, 20 black face ditto 17s, pen ba'fbred merino wethers 13s 9d, 71 fat hoggets 17s 9d, 46 2-tooth wethers 15s, 104 hoggets 11s -6d, 130 hoggets 16s, 92 ewes and lambs 18s 3d, 149 big hoggets 16s lid, 30 prime fat wethers 21s 6d, 20 fat hoggets 18s, pen ewes and lambs 27s 6d, Cattle: About 300 were yarded, most of whioh showed first class quality. Calves brought 395, young heifers from £2 to £3, spriDgers £5. Pigs : There was a small entry, and a good demand. The following prices were realised :—Three empty sows 255, 80s and £2 ; 2 porkers 21s, 2 smaller ones 17s, 4 weaoers Us6d aud 12b.
