THE INQUEST.

An inquest conducted by Constable McLeod was held yesterday afternoon at Tolago Bay concerning the death of an eighteen months old child, Tangier® Temple, as reported in the Times yesterday morning; The evidence showed that the child had eaten some compressed ooro beef from a tin that had been freshly open; the ohild beoame seriously ill and died, and it was conoluded that death had resulted from ptomaine poisoning. The evidence, however, did not fully bear out the supposition, aad the verdict of the jury was that the child had died through eatiDg an undue quantity of tinned corn beef, the chill beiug too young to assimilate suob a quantity.
