A WORTHY MISSION.
(To the Editor of the Times.)
1 Sir,—Not being a narrow minded man or one aspiring to political honors,l cannot for the life of me see why Mr Lissant Clayton should have taken exception to Mr J. A. Harding whilst in Wellington trying to get what money he could voted for this district. For my part I commend any elector who should visit the seat of Government, placing the requirements of the district before members; let. that elector be in a butcher’s shop or elsewhere, what does it matter to us who goes there so long as the district receives the benefit—a benefit in which we will participate. In any case Mr Clayton evidently overlooked the fact that Mr Harding is a member of the County Counoil and various other public bodies. If it was Mr Clayton’s desire to show his disp'easure from a public platform against Mr Hardingover perhaps some private matters—the question is : Is he a suitable man to represent such a large electorate, on account of being narrow in his views ? Such a nature being so entirely foreign to the Hon. James Carroll, whose heart and soul is to see this wealthy district progress, and not to take notice of anyone’a imaginary private gtievanoes, he having a larger and nobler mind.— l am, etc., WAIAPU ELECTOR,
