After the telegraph office dosed, in Committee on the Workers’ Dwellings Bill,' at Clause. 9 Mr Massey moved to reduce the payments of a tenant desirous of purchasing for cash after 25 years (Mode A) from 6 per oent to 5 per cent.— Agreed to by 50 to 13. Mr Massey moved to reduce the 7 per cent chargeable under clause Mode B to 6 per cent.—Lost by 33 to 28. The remaining clauses passed without material amendment.

The Bill was reported, and at 4.5 a.m the Honse rose till 11.30 p.m., on account of Labor Day.

EVENING SITTING,

The Council resumed at 7.30. Mr Reeves’ Gaming and Lotteries Act Amendment Bill was read a seoond time on the casting vote of the Speaker. The Offensive Publication Bill aud Sills of Exchange Bill were put through the final stages.

The House resumed at 7.30. The Government Advances to Settlers Act Amendment Bill went through committee with the addition of an amendment moved by Mr Guinness, providing that the department may lend money on leasehold, urban, and suburban lantjs.
