Mails despatched from} Melbourne via Brindisi on September 6th arrived in London on October 7th. The French committee which some time ago collected subscriptions for a sword of honor to be offered to General Stoessel, the defender of Port. Arthur, is in a difficulty. The sword was bought, and duly sent to [Russia to be presented. General Stoessef, they say, is accused of [serious offences, and is not entitled to be considered a hero. They have sent the sword back.
