It was of maohinery nature under the forms of th House, and was agreed to by 85 to 28. Mr McKenzie’s amendment was thoi put in detail. W. Thomson. A division was then taken as to whether the term should be 90 years or some other term, 90 being rotainod by 41 to 22. AFTERNOON SITTING; Wellington, last night. The Council met at 2.80. The Bills of Exchange Bill was read a second time. A lengthy debate took plsoe on the committal of the Shops and Offices Bill, and was adjourned. The Houso met Bt 2.80.
The Civil Sorvioe Superannuation Bill was introduced by Governor’s message, and read a first time.
The Workers’ Dwellings Bill wa3 considered in committee, but very little progress was made.
EVENING SITTING,
The Council resumed as 7.80. The Electoral Bill was pot through Committee. * The House resumed at 7.80. In Oommit.ee on the Workers Dwel-
lings Bill the definition of " worker ” was altered to inoludo every person, male or female, who is employed in work of any kind or in manual labor, and who at the time of his application is not in receipt of more than £166 per annum. Mr Seddon said that he intended to bring down a Governor’s mefsage to increase tho amount tj be expended on workers’ dwellings from £BOO to £350 in order to test the feeling of tho House as to whether the freehold of the properties should be parted with. Mr Taylor moved to strike out the I proviso in clause 8 dealing with the free bold. Mr Taylor’s motion was lost by 88 to 28.
The next question put was that the present lessees of land under the Land for Settlements Act shall not have the right to acquire the freehold. This was carried by 82 to 80. Following is the division 11 list:—

The freehold amendment wa3 then considered.
Mr Banme moved to amend it, providing that the freehold should be acquired at the value of the land at the time the right to acquire the freehold was exercised. Mr Davey moved to amend it by striking oat the words giving " other ” lessees the right to purchase the freehold. At 2.35 Mr Wood moved the adjourn* ment of the debate, which was carried by 82 to 28, and the Honae rose at 2.45 a.m. [The names given in the division lists are printed as telegraphed.]
