Having heard that owing to tho potato disease their food supply had suffered, and that they had difficulty in scouring fresh j seed for planting, the archdoaoon, with his well known liberality, forwarded a cheque for the above amount for their assistance. Mr T. A. Lonergan, who has left Auckland for the Bay of Plenty, was entertained by his a farewell supper, aud presented with a gold chain, with a pendant, prior to his departure.
