I Mrs Harrison Leo left for Auckland on Saturday. Arohdeaoon'Williams, of Hawke’s Bay, I has given £l6O to assist the Maori olergy of tho Anglioan Diocese of Auokland. Having heard that owing to tho potato disease their food supply had suffered, and that they had difficulty in scouring fresh j seed for planting, the archdoaoon, with his well known liberality, forwarded a cheque for the above amount for their assistance. He had always proved a most j generous friend of the Maori race. Among tho through passengers on Saturday by the Zealandia were were Lady Whitmore, the Rev. Mr Goodyear. and Signor Bragato, tho Government viticulturist.
Mr T. A. Lonergan, who has left Auckland for the Bay of Plenty, was entertained by his a farewell supper, aud presented with a gold chain, with a pendant, prior to his departure.
