MORE SENSATIONAL EVIDENCE HALVING THE COMMISSION. By telegraph/) Press Ass’n,, Copyright ’ Reoeived 11.35 p.m., Oot. 6. Sydney, Oct. 6. At the Lands Commission a number of bank officials were examined regarding Crick’s banking account. In one case in connection with a sale of property wherein Peter Close gave evidence as to receiving £SOO commission, of which he handed Crick half, the bank manager deposed that the owner of this property in June, 1901, drew £SOO from his account. Witness took a number of notes. Before the payment out, the man who drew the amount informed him what he intended doing with them. In the December following the same notes were paid by Crick’s brother to Cciok’s banking account. Peter Close, furthsr examined, detailed a conversation with Crick, who said: 11 These land agents are making mooey. There is no reason why you and I should not make some. You must understand distinctly, though, if you bring anything to me that will in any way prejudioe the public interest, I will have nothing to do with it. It’s no use bringing anything that is not proper and legal.” _ Close added that Crick had no objeotion to sharing amounts with him where the transactions were square and above board and not detrimental to tho publio interest.
