AFTERNOON SITTING. .(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Oaly formal business was transacted in the Legislative Council, and in the House the greater part of the afternoon was oocu. pied in discussing the report of the Lands Committee in regard to the acquisition of some Central Otago rune for eloser settlement.
EVENING SITTING. The House resumed at 7.30, , The Native iTOwnships Loosl Government Bill and Taumutu Native Commonage Bill were read a second time pro forma.
Mr Ssddon moved the eeoond reading of the Land for Settlements Aot Extension Bill, whioh inoraases the amount that oan be raised under the Aot in aoy financial year from £500,000 to £750,000. A lengthy debate ensued.
