To-morrow evening, at His Majosty’s Theatro,. the recently-formed Gisborna Harmonio Sooiety will give a performance of Barnett's cantata '• Anoiont Mariner.” It is considerably over a decade einoo Ibis tuneful work was last presented to a Gisborno audience, and at that time instrumentalists wero few. That faot necessitated the presentation of little more than an outline of the orchestral portion of tbe piooe. On tho present oooasion, howevor, tbe orchestra will be a strong and capable one, and their parts alono should bs well worth the prices of admission, T.be vocal items, too, are in capable hands, aud, given fine weathor, tho Booiety’s efforts should be rewarded with a bumper house. A final rehearsal will bo held at tho thoatro this evombg.
