WARRNAMBOOL TO MELBOURNE
By; telegraph, Press A'ss’n, Copyright Received 7.64 p.rn., Sept 30. Melbourne, Sept, 80. - Of the 186 acceptors for the Warrnambool to Melbourne road race, of 165 miles, 154 started. Heavy rain fell throughout the night, and to-day was dull, with the roads wot and heavy. The result was : W. Hawley, Victoria, 25min, 1; R. Fin« lay, Victoria, 50miD, 2; E. J, Turner, Viotoria, oOmiD, 3. Hawley beat Finlay and Turner, who came in practioally together, by ten minutes. His time was 7hr 62min 26seo, which was also the fastest for tbo journey. Neilson was the most prominent of the New Zealand representatives, and finished eighth. Hunn and Walsh, who finished together, wore twentieth. Falls were numerous in the road race. L. Arnst bad his arm injured.
