.(Per Press Association.) Wellington, yesterday, When the hatobea of the New Zealand Bhinping Company’s s.s. Turakina were opened this morning the bales of flax were still found to be smouldering, and a gang ' .of men were put oo to remove them. 8o -far as can be sceu, tho ship itself is not damaged, bnt the fire must have had a good hold among the cargo of flax. Later.—The fire ou the Turakina has been completely extinguished.' Up to the present it has been discovered that 70 to 100 baits of wool and hemp bave been more or less ar.mttged.by the fire.
