A man’a body was soon floating outsido the harbor early this morning. It is believed- to be that of John Dauliney, a resident of Stanley Point, who disappeared about the 30th. Michael Haydn, aged 50, married, attempted suicide at _ Devonport by cutting his throat with a penknife. His windpipe was completely severed. He was removed to the hospital in a precarious condition. A further development in the Abbot' and Co. warehouse robberies is that an Assyrian commission agent named Charles Quiney was charged with receiving drapery valued at £7O from William Warren, knowing same to have been stolen. • Quiney was a witness at yesterday’s trial, and said he sold the stolen drapery for William Warren, agreeing to pay him 7 5 per cent, of the proceeds. He was remanded for eight days, bail being allowed, himself in £3OO and two sureties of £l5O.

New Plymouth, last night. In the Supreme Court this morning the appeal of the New Plymouth Borough Council against a decision in the Lower Court, ruling that the Council had no claim for a license fee against a country carrier trading in town and country, was upheld. In the Divorce Court a decree nisi, to be made absolute in three months, was granted in the case of Rogers v. Rogers, wife’s petition. Napier, lost night. J. Manning Wigg, carrying on business as an electrical masseur and magnetic healer, was committed to trial for alleged malpractice. A second charge was dismissed, the Bench considering the Crown’s evidence unreliable.

Wellington, last night. In response to an urgent reguest by the Press Association to supply prompter and fuller reports of the football matches, the Australian Cable Association has agreed to do this They state they “ Will make the quickest possible arrangements to secure what is asked, though it may not be practicable to carry it into full effect with to-day’s match.” The purchase of 9000 acres of the Mukeru swamp land by Dr. Chappie and Mr McNab M.H.R. for about £IOO.OOO is announced. The land will be cut up for small farms.

Qreymoutfa, last night. When the Brunner disaster fund was raised it was decided to give parents who had. sons killed in the explosion the option of accepting 10s per week or £SO in full settlement. At the time it was thought the first offer would only hold good for a year, but it has since been continued, beneficiaries receiving close on each. The offer of /"50 was acceptpd in only ono instance. This person has now appealed to the Advisory Board to make him the same allowance as the others are receiving viz., 10s per week. The Board has agreed to recommend the Publio Trustee to grant this application. He, • however, refused, and the Board yesterday agreed to ask the Government to appoint a Commissioner to inquire into the relations between the Board and the Trustee. -
