The remarkable leniency shown to Percy Dawson, the perpetrator of the racing olub frauds, has caused public attention to be sympathetically direoted towards the case of the tramway conductor O’Neill, who was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for the embezzlement of J 243, notwithstanding that the probation officers’ report was favorable, and that the tramway company was willing to retain him in its employ. A movement is now on foot having for its object the petitioning of the Minister of Justice in the hope of getting O'NeiU's sentence modified, if net altogether remitted,
