Napier, lest night. Charles Harrison pleaded guilty today to defrauding his employer of upwards of by failing to account for money collected. Accused was committed for sentence. Auokland, last night. The golf putting competition was won by W. B. Colbeck, with a score of 34 for 18 holes. Weston (New Plymouth) and H. Gillies (Auckland) were second with 35 each. For the O’JRorke interclub challenge vase, four teams from Auckland, Wellington, and Napier competed. The vase was won by Wellington. The scores were Wellington : A. Duncan 87, R. Duncan 95, W. Reid 90, A. S. Pearce 95; total, 367. Auckland (second): W. 8.-Colbeck, 88; J. C. Burns 91, H. T. Gillies 95, W, N. Heather 97; total, 371. Napier (third) : K. Tareba 91, H. Kawhi 97, F. Gordon 105, W. G. Wood 99, total 392. In the teams match, North v. South Island, the South beat the North by one spot 377 to 378. The facts of the Penrose |rifle range accident were somewhat incorrectly given in a previous telegram. W. J. Morgan, the range caretaker, passed in front of the 800 yards mounds to telephone to one of the markers. He passed right before the men lying prone on the mounds. A rifle went off. and Morgan fell, seriously wounded. He was conveyed to the hospital, and it was found that one leg was badly fractured, the bullet passing right through. Morgan takes the blame himself for crossing the firing line.
