Wellington, last night. ? Soma very largo sums of money obaoged hands to-day in Wellington as the result of land speculation m the bo r ou£;b Miramar, which adjoios the city. This morning the Miramar Land Company paid Messrs A. and 0. Crawford 4525.000, being balance owing them by the oompany for land purchased. This company was in lorn Doughs by tbo Miramar Limited, which paid to the acoount of the original company £66,000, the difference between these two sums to £6OOO abort of tbe profit mado by the Miramar Land Company. Tbis company obtained an option over a block of land at Miramar from Messrs A. i ' and 0. Crawford at £SO an aoro two years and seven months ago. The capital coneisted of £12.800, oaoh of sixteen shareholders investing £BOO. Within seven months by sale of land each shareholder ! ■ had reoeived £9OO, and to-nigbt eaofai of the shareholders received JG3OQO, beiog the pbare in Ihe balance of profile amounting mfa £48,000.
